I'm an award winning broadcast journalist, documentary filmmaker and writer who tells factual stories. My work has been seen and heard around the world on networks like the CBC, the History Channel, OWN, DIY Network, AMI, HGTV and The Food Network. I've worked as a communications consultant, copy-editor, content strategist and educator across Canada, Southern Africa, and South-East Asia. What that means is I help others distill complex information, and show them how to build a story with intention. Owning stuff isn't really important, owning your story(ies) is. I can help. Storytelling is as essential to life as air. Stories help us figure things out; where do I want to eat, who do I want to be, and what do these random and chaotic events mean? A great story changes everything, and gifted storytellers are superheros. I've told alot of stories in different shapes and configurations, blogs, TV documentaries, radio news, magazine articles, annual reports, and the part of the process I think matters most is the narrative structure. I don't care what you're creating, the placement of words, sentences, sounds, and scenes are of utmost importance. A great story fizzles when the reveal is in the wrong place.Too much detail drowns an important message. And even a small and seemingly inconsequential comma has to be in the right place. It's not simple, but it's work I love to do.
